The Basque biocompany NorayBio is collaborating with Ebro Puleva, the leading Spanish company in the food sector, on the most ambitious project launched in Spain to develop new foods to help fight obesity.

Called PRONAOS and endowed with a budget of 27.2 million euros, the purpose of the project led by Puleva Biotech, the R&D company in the Ebro Puleva group, is to identify the genetic, molecular and nutritional factors that regulate body weight control systems in order to develop foods to control weight and prevent obesity. Recently approved in the fourth call for proposals of the CENIT (National Strategic Consortia for Technical Research) programme, PRONAOS is aimed at fostering public-private cooperation on R&D and involves the participation of 16 companies and more than 40 research groups.

More specifically, NorayBio will form part of this project with the mission of contributing its know-how on bioinformatics matters by developing a tool that will help to discover new biomarkers and to observe the effect of bioactive substances and ingredients on the metabolic routes involved in obesity.

NorayBio is a Basque biocompany located in the Bizkaia Technology Park that specialises in developing software intended for managing the large amounts of data created in scientific studies in the biotechnology, biomedicine and biopharmacy sectors.
