Eleven Basque companies will take part in the most important convention in the world in conjunction with the BioBasque Agency

A delegation of Basque biotechnology companies, led by the BioBasque Agency, will present their new products and processes between 18 and 21 May next in Atlanta (U.S.A.) within the framework of BIO 2009, the most world’s most important international convention in the sector. This significant Basque presence makes Euskadi, the Basque Country, one of the bioregions with most companies represented in the State at this event, which brings together the leading companies in the biotechnology sector and more than 25,000 people related with the sector every year.

The eleven Basque biocompanies that are to take part in BIO Atlanta 2009 are: Abyntek Biopharma, Biobide, Bioftalmik, DRO Biosystems, Genetadi Biotech, Ikerchem, Innoprot, Owl Genomics, Pharmakine, Progenika Biopharma and Proteomika. They will all travel to the U.S.A. with the aim of promoting their activity, presenting their novelties and reaching international business agreements.

All these companies will go to BIO 2009 under the auspices of a Basque institutional delegation, in which the BioBasque Agency, the Basque Business Development Agency (Sociedad para la Promoción y la Reconversión Industrial – SPRI), the Technology Park Network and the companies incubators will be represented. This delegation will represent the range of possibilities offered by the Basque Country as regards company creation, internationalisation and technological innovation.

After the success achieved at previous editions, this is the third year running that the Basque Bioregion will attend the most important biotechnology convention in the world by means of a delegation led by the BioBasque Agency.
