Koldo Atxutegi (Biolan) and
Diego Salvarredi (Finca Atxona)
The Basque company Biolan, specialised in the development of biosensors for target molecule detection in the agro-food industry, has signed an agreement for the distribution of its grape biosensors in Argentina. This deal strengthens the company’s international launching.
The agreement was signed in Argentina between Koldo Atxutegi, Sales Manager of Biolan Microbiosensores, and Diego Salvarredi, owner of the Finca Atxona distributor. This Argentinean company specialises in the commercialisation, exportation and importation of value-added agro-food products.
The agreement states Biolan’s exclusivity in selling, through Finca Atxona, enzyme biosensors for the wine industry, table grape sector and any other food sector in Argentina. It also establishes Biolan’s direct involvement in the training of technicians and sales agents appointed by Finca Atxona, which might take place either at the Bizkaia Technology Park (Biolan’s headquarters) or in Argentina.
Biolan’s biosensor is able to detect the level of gluconic acid in newly- harvested grapes. The test provides oenologists with essential, reliable and feasible information for their work at the winery. For this reason, many wineries in Spain, France, Portugal and Chile have already used the biosensor in the grape reception process.
