Mikel Valle, head of one of the research groups at the CIC bioGUNE Structural Biology Unit, has won the 2009 EBSA Prize, an award granted by the European Biophysical Societies Association that recognises the work carried out by researchers aged under 40 who work in Europe and have made an important contribution to biophysics.
Dr. Valle’s candidature was presented by the Spanish Biophysics Society, which he is a member of, and was based on the important contribution by this Basque biologist in the field of structural studies of macromolecular complexes, by applying electron microscopy techniques, especially the resolution of the three-dimensional structure through electron cryomicroscopy and image processing (3DCryo EM).
The EBSA Prize, which has an endowment of €2,000, will provide Dr. Valle with the opportunity to present a lecture on his work at the forthcoming EBSA European Biophysics Congress, to be held in Genoa (Italy) from 11 to 15 July.
