Between 10 and 13 September, the Bizkaia Campus (Leioa) of the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) hosted the 31st Congress of the Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM) .This prestigious encounter brought together almost a thousand national and international experts in Bizkaia for four days, to analyse the latest progress that has taken place in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology.
The subjects addressed included structure, molecular stability and function, molecular diagnosis, personalised medicine, as well as technological advances in biochemistry and molecular biology and their benefits in improving quality of life.
The scientific programme at this congress was divided into different courses, satellite sessions, plenary conferences, symposiums and group meetings. Choosing the Biscayan campus of the UPV-EHU at Leioa as the venue for this event is further evidence of the increased activity in the biosciences sector in the Basque Country.
The organising committee for the 31st Congress of the Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM) was chaired by Félix M. Goñi, Director of the Joint Biophysics Unit of the UPV/EHU-CSIC, and José M. Mato, General Manager of CIC bioGUNE and CIC biomaGUNE.
