Basque company KB Data Mining has signed an agreement to distribute the products of Danish firm CLC bio, the world's leading bioinformatics solution provider. This cooperation will enable both companies to offer a catalogue of more than 15 software and hardware products in Spain related with next generation DNA sequencing, proteomics and genomics.
Standing out among the software products is Genomics Workbench, aimed at providing an overall response to researchers in DNA sequencing. It is possible to speed up all CLC bio software by acquiring and using specialised hardware, also distributed by KB Data Mining.
KB Data Mining provides consultancy services and products related with machine learning, a branch of Artificial Intelligence, whose aim is to develop techniques that allow computers to learn, and data mining, a powerful tool used to characterise complex processes by means of computational models and extensively used in the biotechnology field.
On the other hand, CLC bio is a Danish company which is the world leader in providing bioinformatics solutions. Users of its products include reference centres such as the J. Craig Venter Institute, pharmaceutical companies like Boehringer Ingelheim or Novartis, the University of Cambridge and technology centres like the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering.
Both companies, KB and CLC, share the vision of adapting their products for each customer, so in the future it is foreseen that KB could also offer to adapt CLC products in Spain, which will increase the synergies that exist between the two companies.
