Faes Farma and Laboratorios Cinfa have signed an agreement to step up the marketing and distribution of generic drugs in Portugal as from 1 January 2010 next. As both companies announced after the signing, the purpose of this strategic alliance is to unite synergies with the aim of strengthening their positioning in this sector.
Faes Farma contributes its knowledge of the Portuguese pharmaceutics market and is solidly established in medical representation through its subsidiary Laboratorios Vitoria, while Laboratorios Cinfa provides its leadership in the generics sector in Spain and that of its subsidiary in Portugal. The latter is one of the companies with highest growth in that country in the last year.
Joining forces will boost the positioning of both companies among the leading laboratories in the generics Portuguese market. Portugal is a highly interesting market due to its volume, which exceeds 500 million euros in sales, but not least for its growth rates, higher that neighbouring European countries.
