The Basque biocompany Histocell visits the United Arab Emirates in search of new opportunities

February 17, 2009

Histocel en Dubai

In January the Basque biocompany Histocell took part in the ArabHealth exhibition, the most important event for the medical sector held in the Middle East. The work carried out by Histocell aroused great interest among those attending the event due to the innovative nature of its speciality, cell therapy, which is still scarcely developed in the United Arab Emirates, where the event took place.

Attended by 50,000 visitors and with 2,300 exhibitors from more than 100 countries, ArabHealth is a universal exhibition in the medicine and healthcare sector, at which the latest medical technologies are revealed and the results achieved from research are disclosed.

The substantial growth in recent years of both the Congress and the Exhibition has favoured the development of a healthcare sector in a country with plentiful resources, which could make a difference in research to improve the quality of life of individuals.

This is where Histocell can take a step forward. This event provided the Basque biocompany with an opportunity to establish several contacts and to study the possibilities that a rapidly developing country might offer. Histocell took part inside the Spanish pavilion, coordinated by FENIN, as a potential distributor of Advanced Therapy services for regenerative medicine, seeking possible collaborators who need the expertise of a cutting-edge company in our country.

Histocell is located in the Bizkaia Technology Park, where it has 540 m2 of premises, including a 65 m2 authorised clean room. It is the second company in the State to obtain this authorisation, enabling Histocell to manufacture cell therapy products for third parties with European Union authorisation.
