The Basque company Histocell has been recently awarded the Abiatu 10th Anniversary Special Prize to the Best Technology Based Company set up in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). The price was granted on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the EHU-Abiatu programme of the University of the Basque Country, which has achieved the establishment of 41 companies, of which 38 are currently in operation and provide 250 highly skilled direct jobs.
The EHU-Abiatu programme was a cornerstone for the creation and growth of Histocell before moving to the Biokabi bioincubator and subsequently to its own premises at the Bizkaia Technology Park.
Histocell is a biotechnology company specialised in Tissue Engineering and Cell Therapy within Noray BG (Noray Biosciences Group). It is the second Spanish company getting the "Manufacturer of Cell Therapy Medicinal Products" certification of the Spanish Medicine and Healthcare Products Agency for its Clean Room. This enables the company to manufacture cell therapy medicinal products approved by the European Union.
After signing an agreement recently with Ferrer pharmaceuticals to develop a new cell therapy drug, Histocell continues its internationalisation process, with recent meetings in Singapur with several companies.
