April 8, 2010

inbiomed

Inbiobank, Inbiomed,’s adult stem cell and primary cell bank was approved by the Carlos III Health Institute to be part of the National Bank of Stem Cell Lines.

Thus, Inbiobank has become a node within the National Bank of Stem Cell Lines, under the Directorate General for Cell Therapy Research and Regenerative Medicine of the Ministry of Science and Technology. This network structure of coordinated nodes aims to guarantee the availability of embryonic and adult stem cells for biomedical research.

Currently, Inbiomed develops three scientific programmes focusing on the biology of adult and embryonic re-programmed stem cells (iPS), with direct or indirect applications in three different fields: cancer, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative pathologies such as Parkinson's.

Moreover, it provides two other frontline technology services: the aforementioned Stem Cell Bank and a Cell Drug Manufacturing Lab under Good Manufacturing Practice-GMP standards approved by the AEMPS (Spanish Agency of Medicine and Health Products).

Inbiomed is currently involved in a significant new expansion phase which comprises the recruitment of new researchers and the furnishing of the new facilities to be located at the San Sebastian Technology Park, which are scheduled to be inaugurated in spring 2011 with the support of the Kutxa Social Work department.
