Bial sets up in Italy through the acquisition of firm specialised in allergic immunotherapy
Bial, the pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Bilbao and specialised in vaccine manufacturing and research in allergology, has purchased the Italian firm SARM (Societá Antichi Ritrovati Medicinali), a pharmaceutical company specialised in allergic immunotherapy.

The University of the Basque Country incorporates a Biotechnology Degree for next academic year
The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) will include a Degree in Biotechnology for the next academic year. This will be the first time that the Basque university offers degrees fully adapted to the European Space for Higher Education, similar to the process that postgraduate degrees underwent some years ago.

Faes Farma licenses Pierre Fabre to market Bilastine in France and Belgium
The Basque pharmaceutical company Faes Farma and Menarini, the latter having the rights to market Bilastine in 51 countries, came to an agreement with the French multinational company Pierre Fabre to market a second Bilastine brand in France and Belgium. Menarini and Pierre Fabre's joint effort will enable patients to make use of this molecule researched and developed by the Basque firm for the treatment of rhinitis and urticaria.

Progenika, the company for personalised medicine, has launched two new tools for blood group typing based on cutting-edge technologies. These new developments will avoid diseases and complications in newborns, pregnant women and people needing multiple blood transfusions such as cancer patients.
