  • Tecnalia and Donostia Hospital develop a breath-based sensor for detecting lung cancer

  • Tecnalia and the Donostia Hospital are participating in the Interreg Medisen project, which aims to develop biosensors that are able to detect early-stage lung cancer via the breath. The breath of both healthy and sick humans contains numerous organic compounds, such as acetone, methanol, butanol and hydrocarbons. When a person falls sick, the changes occurring inside their body are reflected in their breath, which could therefore allow the presence of certain biomarkers to be detected.
