Noray BG presents the first “LIMS” specifically for the Spanish biotechnology sector at BioSpain 2008
The Basque biotechnology group Noray BG (Biosciences Group), revealed its new NorayBio bioinformatics business range, called NorayLIMS, within the framework of BioSpain 08, the most important biotechnology forum in Spain.
NorayLIMS is the only LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) which has been designed specifically for the Spanish biotechnology sector, so that it enables Spanish companies and laboratories to correctly process their data in accordance with the specific requirements of this emerging sector in Spain.
Moreover, the products that the NorayLIMS range offers are fully customisable to provide a response to the particular requirements of each company or research centre. At the moment this range consists of two products or software packages: ServiLIMS and BioLIMS.
ServiLIMS allows web management and communication between researchers, suppliers and the administration. In addition, ServiLIMS can be adapted to the requirements of each client by the creation and addition of new features. As regards BioLIMS, it is a software package for the management and integration of data obtained in research laboratories that enables the complete traceability of samples and associated data throughout the entire experimental process. To this effect, NorayBio has extensive experience in developing LIMS for three branches: BioLIMS for clinical diagnosis laboratories, for genomic and genotyping laboratories, and for laboratories focusing on R&D. On its part, the main activity of Histocell, the other company in the Noray BG group, is the development of human tissues from autologous cells (taken from the same patient), thereby creating biological substitutes for later implantation into the patient. Histocell has already applied for its first international patent and expects to file another three patent applications by the end of 2008. The two companies in the Noray BG group had their own stand at the BioSpain 08 event, which was held in Granada from 17 to 19 September.
