Vita Aidelos organises a scientific communication competition together with the Ministry of Science and Innovation

November 6, 2009

vitaaidelos

Vita Aidelos occupies a special niche within the bioscience sector. This Basque company focuses on training and communication activities which include the development of biotechnology practice kits for the education sector (molecular biology and microbial biotechnology) and the sale of scientific multimedia material (interactive CD-ROMs). Vita Aidelos contributes in this way to building bridges between the scientific community and society.

In this context, Vita Aidelos, in conjunction with the Ministry of Science and Innovation, is organising the 1st Scientific Communication Competition Biotecnológate!! (Get into Biotechnology!), financed by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). It is to be a contest that is open to all public and private educational centres that teach secondary education or vocational training, and the competition is to present a scientific project about the benefits of biotechnology.

The Competition is one of the initiatives to bring science and innovation closer to the general public as part of the Spanish presidency of the EU in the first half of 2010. Entries can be presented between 15 September 2009 and 1 March 2010. The ten finalists will attend the European City of Science and Innovation Trade Fair, where they will exhibit their projects.

The jury will consist of Vita Aidelos and members from the FECYT, from the Spain Genome Foundation, from the Spanish Federation of Biotechnologists (FEBIOTEC), and from the Biomics Consolidated Research Group (University of the Basque Country - UPV/EHU).
