  • EuroTransBio (http://www.eurotransbio.net): One of the ERANET programmes, an initiative born from the will of some European member states and regions to work together in order to support trans-national R&D private/private and private/public co-operations between companies, especially SMEs, and academic labs by coordinating their national or regional public funding programmes. The Basque Country is one of the founders of this network.

  • HUPO: the Human Proteome Organisation (http://www.hupo.org/) is an international consortium that promotes the development of proteomics research, facilitates collaborations, and has the ultimate goal of identifying all proteins involved in a particular biological process and the interactions between them. BioBasque participates through a consortium led by CIC bioGUNE, which is also the Spanish representative in HUPO. The main asset is the existence of experienced researchers and a state-of-the-art, comprehensive Proteomics platform.

  • CIBERs - Networked Biomedical Research Centres: Fostered by the Spanish Ministry of Health and Consumer Care, several groups join with the mission of conducting monographic research into a well-defined specific pathology or health problem (important for their prevalence or social repercussions) through multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional translational Research Centres, that bring together basic, clinical and population-based research. Basque research groups take part in several CIBERs:
